Most people living in Chicago try to find a way to avoid the annual Taste of Chicago festival. Fourth of July weekend is usually very hot, and 2 million sweaty people shoving turkey legs is not very appetizing. This year, however, the weather was mild and the musical acts were too good to pass up. Friday's lineup consisted of Alejandro Escovedo, The Old 97's, and Gomez. Sometimes it's fun to look at your own city through the eyes of a tourist and gain a new appreciation for every thing it has to offer.

Our view of Alejandro Escovedo (uncle of Sheila E.).
It's hard to make out in this photo, but on the very top outside edge of this building is a row of porta-potties. Watch that last step, it's a doozy.
